January 2018: time to recover!

That flu kicked us hard! Especially we grown-ups! It took several days for Galo and I to recover!
So after being stuck inside our tiny house for so many days, once we felt better and the sunshine was back, we headed to the park for a nice outdoor selfie session. Feels so good to be alive!

Earlier this month, Emilie auditioned for the second time to attend the Denver School of the Arts in their Dance program. She tried last year and was not selected. This year, she first had a master class in Ballet and Modern. She made it to the call backs the following day. She had an interview and had to perform a solo. She choreographed it all by herself! Eventually she made it to the waiting list. Which means, that if a 8th grader drop off from the school, she may get in. Emilie was very happy to have made it to the call backs and to be on the waiting list. We are all proud of herself. But she is not sure she really wants to go back to school anyways!

After the audition, Emilie got braces! Not a happy camper the first few days but getting used to them now. We celebrated with ice cream!

When we can, we like to go and visit Gabi at her house. Her housemate Morgan, has a cute dog named Rue. He is such a sweety.

And Zoila enjoys taking Hugo the Cat for a ride.

Or cuddling with both Rue and Hugo at the same time.

On January 20, we went to the Women's March. We were actually not thinking about going and just following our regular Saturday routine (Capoeira for Zoila, Antonio and I; and dance for Emilie and Galo) but Emilie insisted we go. She made her own signs the night before and was all psyched about the march.
We are raising young activists without even trying!

 Oh yes she is!

And came January 28, the 41st one in my life! We had a very lazy day at home but I managed to bake my own cake: the infamous gluten free, dairy free quinoa chocolate cake! With a layer of raspberries! So yummy you can eat it all and not even feeling crappy about it!

And just like that, January was over! Looking forward a quieter and healthier month of February!
